We truly enjoyed the well-appointed king room with balcony. The service was excellent, just as we had expected.- Thanks to the extremely patient staff, everything was very good, including a wide range of delicious food.

If the window leaves not on the sea, but in a garden that happens late at night is noisy. It is bad also that nobody informs that the swimming season on Madiera begins since June, 21st, and in May all beaches are closed.

Perfect, clean and well laid out location. Very attentive and courteous staff. Everything is just great. This house (4 stars) has the quality of a 5-star house.

This place is luxurious and has incredibly friendly and attentive staff that made me not want to leave, I'm definitely planning to come back soon.

Particularly good location mostly on the hills in the newer areas, very efficient staff, everything was very good. The room was air-conditioned and brand-new with a hair dryer and bathrobes in the shared bathroom. Location: the hotel was near local restaurants and Close to the sea. Having different warm drinks in the poolside bar was a very nice touch. Everything met what was needed, had an enjoyable stay in September.

Location in the centre of the city was a plus. They provided a delicious buffet breakfast on site.

The rooms here are a good size and look like they've just been redone. They come with all the essentials, like fresh towels 🛁, and a nice stand-alone shower.

We had a suite, but only with side sea view and parking space. That wasn't so nice.

The best location on the island. Though beaches are scarce in Funchal this is right by the sea with a nice pool area. You can easily walk into town with a variety of restaurants on the doorstep. It is also great for transportation as the funicular up to Monte is very close, as well as, local buses and taxis for trips to other areas of the island. The hotel is clean, effecient with helpful staff, good restaurant and nice spa facilities. It is exactly what I would expect from a good four star hotel. I would definitely go back to Madeira and would stay at the Porto Santa Maria again.

The position of the hotel was excellent being right on the seafront as well as having immediate access to many good restaurants.Rooms were very good and the staff were excellent being very helpful and always available. Breakfasts were brilliant being buffets with an enormous range of everything available.

They insist on charging 12 euros for the room safe, which as this is the only negative aspect shows how good the rest was.

The whole experience was excellent. The hotel staff usually went out of their way to provide satisfaction. We had a most relaxing week in a fine hotel in a wonderful location, overlooking Funchal harbour in the old town.

The evening entertainment in the Captain's Bar was, for us, far too loud (amplified beyond a comfortable level)
